Overprotective

“You are so pretty,” one woman said tugging playfully at Kali’s dress.

“Your hair is so beautiful and long,” another woman said. “Can I have some of your hair,” she concluded, playfully patting Kali’s hair.

She was the child everyone adored, everyone stared at. She was young and confident. She spoke to anyone, regardless of their stature. She would look them straight in the eye and not shy away. Her British accent took everyone by surprise. Everyone was in awe at this little adult. She was a child physically, but commanded the attention of adults.

It was an attention that Kali never really realised. Dinah was very overprotective of her baby sister Kali. She was 16 years older and was more aware of people’s intentions. She found the attention suspicious and always had Kali close to her.
